I have been working with a landscape architect, soil hydrology expert and civil as well as soils engineers on a 90 acre retirement community site development. We are currently in the conceptual design phase and are trying to develop the site in manner that minimize land disturbance, reduce the impervious surfaces, maintain the hydrology of the existing ecosystem, as well as process rainwater where it lands (thus eliminate storm sewer piping). There are numerous karst features present on the site which may play into our efforts (positive or negative). We will also propose utilizing an existing barn structure as a park type shelter for the community (heavy timber construction). The following post is the PowerPoint presentation we are developing to present to our client to address the different sustainable design aspects available on our site. The only reason I am posting this is because we have so many more options available than our current studio design project as it relates to the site. I am pumped up about the possibilities and would like to share with anyone that is interested. Let me know what you think.
